Other Tools

I want to share with you a selective list of free tools used in my courses to expand and improve the learning environment.

  • Vocaroo: Here you can record yourself speaking or let your students record and experiment with their pronunciation. I used this tool to read texts from the course book so my students could listen to a native speaker as much as they wanted to, providing an additional method to cover required material.
  • Quizlet: This is an awesome tool to make modern online flashcards, instead of old-school, handwritten flashcards. I encouraged my students to use this tool, add pictures to each of them and use different colors for each gender.
  • Glogster: This is an easy tool to replace old fashioned classroom posters with a digital poster that can include multimedia content such as videos, links or animated pictures. I used Glogster with my students to find a creative and memorable way to explore the German culture.
  • Rubistar: This online tool helps teachers to create rubric-based assessment for fair grading, especially for essays or oral exams. I created my own rubric for oral exams with a Rubistar rubric as a template.
